DLA Piper appoints four partners to strengthen Corporate, Finance and Tax practices
"DLA Piper hires four partners for its Corporate, Finance and Tax teams: Markjan van Schaardenburgh (Private Equity & M&A), Cathrine Foldberg Møller (financial services regulation), Mark Brown (structured products/derivatives) and Gareth Amdor (UK Transaction Tax)."
Markjan van Schaardenburgh joins DLA Piper in London as a partner in the firm’s global Private Equity and M&A offering. Joining from Ashurst, he is dual‑qualified in England & Wales and South Africa and brings more than two decades of experience advising firms and companies across Europe and Africa on complex M&A, downstream private equity and private capital transactions, corporate restructurings and governance mandates.
Cathrine Foldberg Møller joins DLA Piper’s Finance practice in Luxembourg as a partner, bringing a highly successful pan‑European financial services regulatory practice. She joins from Simmons & Simmons and advises financial institutions, insurers, FinTechs (including crypto‑asset service providers) and other financial sector professionals on banking and payments, investment activities, product regulation and financial promotion. Her experience spans major regulatory frameworks including MiFID, CRD6, Crowdfunding, PSD3, DORA, MiCA and tokenisation, as well as licensing and perimeter matters.
Mark Brown joins the firm’s Finance practice in London as a partner. He brings more than 20 years’ experience advising on structured products, derivatives, securities lending, regulatory advisory work and bank reorganisation projects, including M&A and ESG policy development. A former Linklaters partner, Mark most recently worked at the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority as a Policy Technical Specialist in the Infrastructure and Exchanges Directorate – Capital Markets Sustainable Finance Division, and has worked across Tokyo and Hong Kong before returning to London.
Gareth Amdor joins DLA Piper’s Tax practice in London as a partner. A highly experienced tax lawyer, he previously led the restructuring and expansion of Reed Smith’s UK tax practice and brings over 28 years of UK taxation experience. Recognised for his deep private equity expertise, he advises across funds, real estate, cross‑border M&A, corporate finance, restructuring, venture capital and hedge fund structuring, and will lead DLA Piper’s UK Transaction Tax practice.
