Murphy brings more than three decades of experience representing owners, developers, design professionals, general contractors, subcontractors and material suppliers on projects valued in the billions. He handles the full spectrum of construction law matters, including Arizona Prompt Payment Act claims, mechanic’s lien foreclosure actions, payment bond claims, construction defect litigation, delay and impact claims, contract interpretation disputes and licensing matters before the Arizona Registrar of Contractors. He has served as an arbitrator and mediator and also handles transactional work, drafting and negotiating construction contracts, subcontracts, development agreements, CC&Rs, condominium declarations, ground leases and related real estate instruments. He is the first Construction & Design attorney in Dorsey & Whitney’s Phoenix office, which has grown to 56 lawyers since opening in 2022.
Murphy joins Dorsey & Whitney from Murphy Cordier Casale Axel PLC, where he was a partner. He received his J.D. from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln College of Law and his B.A. from the University of Arizona.
