Nixon Peabody welcomes former federal prosecutor John J. Durham to New York office

Durham is a former federal prosecutor who served in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, joining that office in 2005 and holding a range of leadership roles before his appointment as interim United States Attorney in January 2025. He brings more than two decades of experience leading global investigations, high-stakes litigation, and regulatory enforcement, having investigated, litigated, and supervised thousands of cases, including dozens of trials and appeals.
At Nixon Peabody Durham will work nationally with a particular focus on New York, Boston and New England, and Washington, DC. He joins the firm as a partner in the Government Investigations & White-Collar Defense practice and will advise entities and individuals on government and cross-border investigations and litigation, crisis response, risk management, and compliance strategies, drawing on his senior leadership experience at the Department of Justice.
Durham earned his JD from the University of Connecticut School of Law and his BA from the College of the Holy Cross.
