Gibson Dunn builds Madrid team with arrival of Armando Albarrán
"Gibson Dunn has hired Armando Albarrán to lead its Madrid launch in its Private Equity and M&A groups; Asís Martín de Cabiedes Arranz and Mario Pacini are set to join the Madrid team in Corporate/M&A and Private Capital."
Armando Albarrán left Freshfields, formally ending his tenure there on 20 March, and officially started at Gibson Dunn on 23 March. Gibson Dunn has confirmed he has joined the firm as a partner in its Private Equity and M&A practice groups. The firm said his arrival will be followed by the opening of its Madrid office. The press release notes Albarrán has advised on a number of significant Spanish and cross-border transactions; he previously led Freshfields’ Corporate/M&A and Private Capital teams.
Asís Martín de Cabiedes Arranz appears on LinkedIn as joining Gibson Dunn as of counsel. She previously worked as a senior associate in Freshfields’ Corporate/M&A and Private Capital teams led by Albarrán.
Mario Pacini is set to join Gibson Dunn as a senior associate, also according to LinkedIn. He, too, previously worked as a senior associate in Freshfields’ Corporate/M&A and Private Capital teams.
According to unconfirmed market sources, the associate Alberto Broseta is also expected to join the new office, although neither the timing nor the move itself has been confirmed.
Reka Palla joined Gibson Dunn from A&O Shearman in February as of counsel and was announced as the first addition to the Spain team. At that stage the planned Madrid office was expected to focus on private equity, infrastructure and healthcare. Gibson Dunn has not confirmed the office opening date or location, and Madrid does not yet appear on the firm’s public locations page.
