Addleshaw Goddard strengthens Social and Affordable Housing Group with team from Trowers & Hamlins

"Addleshaw Goddard hires two partners and three legal directors from Trowers & Hamlins into its Social and Affordable Housing Group to boost expertise in development, regeneration, governance, projects and housing finance."

Richard St John Williams, Amy Shaw, Katie Hardiman, Tom Wainwright and James McCormack are joining Addleshaw Goddard as members of its Social and Affordable Housing Group.

All five lawyers join from Trowers & Hamlins, where they built a highly respected practice and worked together as a close‑knit team. Collectively they bring national reputations across social and affordable housing, including development, regeneration, corporate matters, projects, governance and regulation. They will join Addleshaw Goddard as two Partners (Richard St John Williams and Amy Shaw) and three Legal Directors (Katie Hardiman, Tom Wainwright and James McCormack).

Richard St John Williams (joining as Partner) comes from Trowers & Hamlins and will work within Addleshaw Goddard’s Social and Affordable Housing Group, bringing his experience in sector work that spans development, regeneration and wider housing matters. He said the move will allow the team to present unparalleled sector knowledge, a full service offering and significant bench strength.

Amy Shaw (joining as Partner) joins from Trowers & Hamlins and will focus on social and affordable housing. She highlighted that her arrival will help connect Addleshaw Goddard’s existing Housing Finance capabilities with its Regeneration and Living credentials and provide dedicated housing‑focused expertise.

Katie Hardiman (joining as Legal Director) joins from Trowers & Hamlins and will work on social and affordable housing matters within the group. She said she looks forward to playing an active role in growing and developing the practice so the team can deliver key housing strategies for clients.

Tom Wainwright (joining as Legal Director) joins from Trowers & Hamlins and will become part of the firm’s Social and Affordable Housing Group, contributing to its work across development, regeneration, governance and related projects.

James McCormack (joining as Legal Director) joins from Trowers & Hamlins and will contribute to Addleshaw Goddard’s housing development and delivery practice. He noted the move will allow the group to complement existing development and delivery capabilities with the firm’s strengths in real estate and social housing finance, including development finance.
