David Díez joins A&O Shearman to lead Spain regulatory practice
"A&O Shearman appoints partner David Díez to lead its public law and regulated sectors practice in Spain, focusing on energy, infrastructure and environmental regulation."
Díez joins the firm from Watson Farley & Williams, where he spent more than eleven years as partner and head of the regulatory practice. A specialist in public law and regulated sectors, he will strengthen A&O Shearman’s capabilities in industries such as energy, infrastructure and environmental regulation.
Over the course of his career, Díez has advised on matters related to energy, environment, waste management, public infrastructure and public procurement. He has advised companies, financial institutions and investment funds on significant transactions involving the financing, development and sale of renewable energy assets. His project experience includes wind farms, biomass plants, photovoltaic installations and solar thermal facilities, working on both the regulatory and transactional aspects of these investments.
Beyond private practice, Díez is active in the sector’s institutional environment: since 2014 he has served as secretary of the board of the Spanish Photovoltaic Union and is a founding member of AEDEN.
