McGuireWoods Expands Los Angeles Securities Enforcement Team with Gary Leung and Jodi Lopez

Gary Leung joins McGuireWoods’ Securities Enforcement & Regulatory Counseling Practice Group after a 13-year tenure at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. He most recently served as regional director of the SEC’s Los Angeles Regional Office and as an associate director in the Division of Enforcement, where he led a staff of more than 70 investigative attorneys, trial attorneys and enforcement accountants and supervised an enforcement docket of over 100 investigations and 80 litigated SEC enforcement actions in federal court and the SEC’s administrative court. He previously held leadership roles in the Enforcement Division’s Asset Management Unit as an assistant director and served as the Los Angeles Regional Office’s regional trial counsel. Before entering public service with the SEC in 2012, Leung was a litigation partner in McGuireWoods’ Chicago office.
Jodi Lopez joins McGuireWoods’ Securities Enforcement & Regulatory Counseling Practice Group from Sidley Austin and will also assume co-leadership of the firm’s Accountant & Auditor Liability Practice Area. She has represented accounting firms and their professionals, public companies and their directors and officers, and private equity firms in regulatory and litigation matters involving financial reporting, accounting, disclosure and tax issues. Lopez holds a nationwide Chambers USA ranking for accountant and auditor liability and was named a Client Service All-Star by BTI Consulting Group for securities and professional liability litigation in 2020.
