King & Spalding Welcomes Back SEC Senior Trial Attorney J. Emmett Murphy to New York Business Litigation Practice

Murphy’s practice focuses on professional liability litigation and regulatory matters, securities class actions, and complex commercial disputes, with a particular emphasis on financial reporting and accounting matters. He is a seasoned litigator who has tried cases in federal and state courts and in both domestic and international arbitrations, and has argued appeals before federal and state appellate courts.
Murphy rejoins King & Spalding from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, where since 2023 he served as a Senior Trial Attorney in the Division of Enforcement. Prior to his government service, he was an associate and then partner at King & Spalding from 2010 to 2023. Murphy received his J.D. from Fordham University and his B.A. from Binghamton University.
