FPS expands banking and finance practice in Hamburg and Frankfurt with Hauke Bornschein

"Hauke Bornschein joins FPS to strengthen its banking and finance practice in Hamburg and Frankfurt, focusing on corporate and project finance, real estate, renewables, venture-debt and mezzanine financing."

Hauke Bornschein, LL.M. is joining the law firm FPS and will strengthen its banking and finance practice at the Hamburg and Frankfurt offices.

Hauke Bornschein advises national and international lenders and borrowers on complex financing transactions, primarily in corporate and project finance with a focus on the real estate sector. He also has long-standing experience in financing renewable energy projects, venture-debt and mezzanine financings, and Schuldscheindarlehen. In addition, he advises on restructurings and on general banking law. His practice is closely connected with FPS’s areas of real estate law, public law (planning law), tax, corporate and energy law.

Florian Wiesner, Managing Partner at FPS, said that clients rightly expect a high degree of interdisciplinary expertise, specialization and flexibility from the firm, and that Bornschein brings these strengths to future mandates and projects, enabling FPS to continue and expand its work in the real estate and financial sectors as well as in the energy sector.

Professor Dr. Jörg Kupjetz, Head of the Financing Practice at FPS, added that complex financings today require not only excellent banking-law expertise but also a deep understanding of the relevant industry and economic context; he described Bornschein as bringing exactly that combination and as an ideal reinforcement for FPS’s financing practice and its cross-office orientation.

Bornschein said he looks forward to the diverse tasks at FPS and to working with the strong teams in Hamburg and Frankfurt, and that the close collaboration of different practice areas and the linkage of various industries with demanding financing projects are an exciting challenge that he knows well from his prior practice.

With this reinforcement in banking and finance law, FPS further expands its business-law priorities, intensifies cross-office cooperation and strengthens its advisory capabilities for complex financing projects to comprehensively support clients on central legal issues.
