Matthew Boswell joins Norton Rose Fulbright as partner in Antitrust and Competition practice

Matthew brings more than 25 years of experience spanning private practice, criminal prosecution, securities regulation and senior competition enforcement leadership. He most recently served as Canada’s Commissioner of Competition from 2018 to 2025, leading the Competition Bureau through a period of significant legal and institutional change. He joins Norton Rose Fulbright as a partner, moving from his prior role as Commissioner of Competition.
At Norton Rose Fulbright he will work in the Antitrust and Competition practice, assisting Canadian and international businesses on competition law compliance, merger review strategy and regulatory enforcement matters. He was drawn to the firm for its people, culture and global reach and intends to build a dynamic practice in Ottawa while collaborating nationally and internationally. Matthew is also a frequent speaker and guest lecturer and is committed to mentorship and legal education.
