GA-Alliance appoints Roberto Mastroianni as of counsel

Roberto Mastroianni is a professor of European Union Law at the University of Naples Federico II and brings to GA-Alliance extensive experience at the highest levels of EU jurisdiction and public administration. He joins the firm with the seniority of of counsel. From 2019 to 2025 he served as judge and president of a section of the General Court (Tribunal) of the European Union in Luxembourg. He has also held institutional roles including referendary at the Court of Justice of the European Union (1997–2000) and Adviser for legislative affairs at the Department for European Affairs of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (2015–2018).
Academically and professionally, Mastroianni combines long-standing legal practice and scholarship. He has been authorised to litigate before Italy’s highest courts and before European courts for more than twenty-five years. He earned his law degree in Florence (1987), a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Penn State University (1990) and a doctorate from Bologna (1992), and completed further studies at the Universities of Geneva and Amsterdam and at New York Law School. He has taught at numerous institutions in Italy and abroad, including Luiss Guido Carli (Rome), Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas, American University (Washington) and Denver College of Law.
His areas of specialization include European Union law, competition law—with particular experience in Media and TMT sectors—and regulatory matters linked to the digital single market. GA-Alliance states that his arrival will strengthen its capacity to assist clients in complex cross-border disputes, antitrust proceedings and European litigation by integrating judicial perspective with strategic advisory expertise.
