Alexander Olama has joined Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney as a shareholder in the firm’s tax section in its Tampa office.

Olama focuses on tax controversy and litigation disputes, as well as domestic and international tax planning and compliance for individuals and companies. He provides comprehensive representation for individuals and businesses facing complex and high‑stakes tax disputes, including IRS examinations and appeals, Tax Court and federal district court litigation.

His tax controversy practice covers a wide range of federal tax issues, including penalty abatements, bad debts, charitable contributions, digital asset reporting, employee retention credits, net operating losses, business expense substantiation, excise taxes, and whistleblower claims. Olama is also experienced in offshore tax compliance, advising on IRS voluntary disclosure programs, IRS Streamlined Filing Compliance Procedures, the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts, the Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act of 1980, foreign tax credits and the foreign earned income exclusion, expatriation tax planning and compliance, and tax treaty benefits.
