Manatt, Phelps & Phillips Adds Financial Services Partner Ivor Wolk to New York Office
"Manatt, Phelps & Phillips has hired Ivor Wolk as a Financial Services Partner in New York to strengthen its fintech and private markets practice, advising on private funds, product structuring and regulatory compliance."
Wolk brings more than three decades of experience in private investment funds, fintech platforms, alternative investments and financial regulation. He advises asset managers, fintech companies and financial institutions on the formation and operation of private investment vehicles, regulatory compliance, securities law, product structuring and complex financing transactions. At Manatt he will bolster the firm’s fintech and private market alternative investment offerings, counseling domestic and international clients on regulatory, product structuring and compliance matters, including issues under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, registration and exemption matters, compliance program design, SEC examinations and enforcement risk.
Wolk has held senior leadership positions as general counsel at Willow Wealth (formerly Yieldstreet) and at NewOak Capital, where he oversaw legal, operational and compliance functions and guided product innovation and regulatory matters. He has extensive experience developing novel investment products and supporting product design and go-to-market strategy for investment platforms and robo-advisers, and has structured a wide range of private investment vehicles—including private credit, private equity, real estate, venture capital, hedge and art equity funds—as well as digital asset offerings, while ensuring compliance with securities laws and SEC and FINRA regulations. Earlier in his career he served in senior legal roles at major financial institutions and practiced at prominent law firms advising on securitizations, structured finance and other complex financings.
