Orenstein focuses his practice on international trade and transportation matters, emphasizing economic sanctions, customs regulations, export controls, national security reviews and transportation regulatory matters. His experience includes regulatory compliance, investigations, due diligence, training and enforcement related to sanctions and embargoes administered by the US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC); export controls governed by the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) under the Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS); and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) overseen by the Department of State’s Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC). He joins Squire Patton Boggs from K&L Gates LLP and enters the firm at partner level.
Orenstein earned his J.D., cum laude, from George Mason University School of Law, his M.A. from The University of Chicago and his B.A., magna cum laude, from Boston University.
