Matthew Martel and Joseph Sconyers have joined Morgan Lewis as partners in the firm’s Boston office.

Matthew Martel joins Morgan Lewis with more than 25 years of experience representing global financial institutions in state and federal litigation, government investigations and enforcement actions, and bankruptcy and restructuring matters. His counseling and disputes practice focuses on structured products, including transactions tied to underlying consumer products such as mortgage, student loan, auto loan, credit card, and life insurance, as well as securitizations of corporate and municipal debt. Martel is an active member of the Structured Finance Association Executive Committee. He is joining Morgan Lewis from Jones Day as a partner.

Joseph Sconyers joins Morgan Lewis as a partner after nearly 20 years as a litigator focused on complex disputes involving structured financial products. He represents financial institutions in high-risk matters arising from U.S. and European structured finance transactions. Sconyers’s practice centers on contentious deals, including trustee duty claims, event-of-default disputes, servicing and administration issues, indemnification matters, and the interpretation and enforcement of transaction documents, and he provides strategic advisory counseling to help clients mitigate risk and manage transactions in uncertain or distressed circumstances. He is joining Morgan Lewis from Jones Day as a partner.
