Thomas Holt joins Kilpatrick as a Partner. He brings nearly three decades of experience across trademark litigation, protection, and enforcement and regularly transitions between litigation and non-litigation matters to meet client needs. Mr. Holt has experience in all phases of federal court litigation, including ex parte seizure, temporary restraining orders, preliminary injunctions, trial, and appeals. At his previous firm he served for nearly five years as Firmwide Chair of the Trademark, Copyright, Internet and Advertising practice group. He represents major companies in trademark, copyright, and false advertising matters in federal courts and before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, and he represents clients in inter partes proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Mr. Holt also counsels clients on IP protection and enforcement, manages U.S. and international IP portfolios, and drafts and negotiates IP agreements. He is recognized by industry publications such as Managing IP and World Trademark Review and has served on the Board of Directors of 3Arts and on multiple INTA committees. He earned his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri.
Jeremy Buxbaum joins Kilpatrick as Counsel. With nearly 20 years of experience, Mr. Buxbaum focuses on intellectual property litigation and counseling relating to trademark, trade dress, copyright, false advertising, and right of publicity. He has substantial experience in federal and state court litigation, proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, pre-suit enforcement actions, and trademark counseling and prosecution. His work spans numerous industries, including hospitality, food and beverage, software, luxury goods, and outdoor and sports apparel and equipment. Mr. Buxbaum earned his J.D., cum laude, from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law and holds a Ph.D., M.A., and B.A. in Philosophy, magna cum laude, from the University of Colorado.
