Morgan Lewis Expands IP Litigation with Addition of ITC Partner Matt Rizzolo
"Morgan Lewis welcomes Matthew (Matt) Rizzolo as a partner in its Washington, DC intellectual property practice to bolster ITC and patent litigation capabilities."
Rizzolo joins Morgan Lewis from Ropes & Gray, where he led the firm’s Section 337 ITC practice and represented clients in complex intellectual property and unfair competition disputes across the United States and globally. He enters Morgan Lewis as a partner and will contribute to the firm’s capabilities in high‑stakes disputes before the US International Trade Commission (ITC), US federal district courts, and other key venues.
His experience includes representing clients in Section 337 ITC proceedings, patent litigation in US federal district courts, appeals before the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, proceedings before the US Patent and Trademark Office, and related international arbitrations. He has litigated a range of IP and unfair competition matters, including Lanham Act trademark and false advertising claims, copyright infringement, trade secret misappropriation, and disputes involving IP licenses and other contracts. Rizzolo has handled matters involving technologies such as semiconductors, consumer electronics, software, internet‑based technologies, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals.
His arrival is part of Morgan Lewis’s ongoing investment in IP trial lawyers across US and international jurisdictions and follows recent additions to the firm’s IP litigation bench from Knobbe Martens and other hires in Washington, San Francisco, New York, London, Munich, and Paris; globally the firm has added 19 IP partners in the past 18 months.
