Irwin Mitchell appoints Asim Arshad as dispute resolution and regulatory partner

"Irwin Mitchell has appointed Asim Arshad as a partner in its dispute resolution and regulatory team, where he will work on cryptoasset, blockchain, AML and regulatory matters."

Asim Arshad has joined Irwin Mitchell as a dispute resolution and regulatory partner.

Arshad joins Irwin Mitchell from Lawrence Stephens, where he served as a director in the Dispute Resolution department and led the firm’s cryptoasset sector offering. He enters Irwin Mitchell at partner level, having previously held the seniority of director at Lawrence Stephens.

He is recognised for advising on complex disputes and regulatory issues across multiple jurisdictions, with specialist knowledge in the blockchain and cryptoasset sectors. In addition to contentious work on digital assets, regulation and compliance, Arshad is regularly instructed on non-contentious matters and has experience guiding organisations on token issuance, regulatory perimeter assessments, AML compliance and the development of cryptoasset products and services. He also advises on complex source-of-funds and source-of-wealth issues involving cryptoassets and supports clients through regulatory, banking and transactional processes.

Arshad is one of four new partners to join Irwin Mitchell’s Business Services Group since the start of 2026 and joins a growing team that includes Ricardo Geada, James Szerdy and Katie Molloy.
