Bird & Bird expands Energy & Utilities Sector Group with new partner in Munich
"Bird & Bird hires Alexandra Mützelburg as partner in Munich and will welcome senior associate Anna Neumann to its Energy & Utilities Sector, focusing on energy regulation, renewables and storage."
Alexandra Mützelburg joins from Fieldfisher. She advises on the regulatory aspects of energy law, focusing primarily on project developers, financial investors, banks, insurers and energy utilities. Her work covers the full spectrum of project business, from strategic and environmental planning through to implementation and energy trading. She advises clients on the acquisition of infrastructure and energy projects, including battery storage systems, heat, hydrogen, bio‑LNG, EV charging and alternative carbon capture, guiding them through securing public permits, managing grid connection matters and negotiating infrastructure and project‑related agreements. Her expertise also encompasses navigating subsidy schemes and providing supply/purchase, lease or tolling agreements, as well as energy management and optimiser agreements. Another key area of her practice is the strategic development and implementation of energy hubs as decentralised sector‑coupled projects in renewable energy, heat, battery storage and hydrogen, taking into account dynamic changes in the regulatory framework for energy supply, trade and emissions trading.
Anna Neumann will join Bird & Bird’s Munich office as a senior associate, transferring on 1 May 2026.
Alexandra’s arrival represents strategic growth for Bird & Bird Germany and builds on recent hires in Frankfurt. The firm says the additions strengthen its advisory capabilities across energy, innovation and sustainable transformation.
